Cone of Learning

Cone of Learning

Cone of Learning

I took one look at this and everything made sense.

I first saw this picture, ever, in the book Increase Your Financial IQ by Robert T. Kiyosaki on page 183. I HIGHLY recommend this book.

People learn differently, everybody knows that, but not everyone knows why some people have difficulty. I have always been good at art because it was something we learned as we worked. Also, the teacher didn’t just talk; they talked and demonstrated.

I never really did well in a class that had us talk and take notes. Participation was key, depending upon the class and whether or not I cared about what I was learning.

But lectures bored me and I only remembered what I read if I was interested (which is how most people are, I would think). To the people who can remember whatever, kudos.

But, a word of advice, I found, adding a picture to the words tended to help. Here’s the math I have in my head: we remember 30% of the pictures we see and 10% of what we read. If you have a picture next to the words, that’s a 40% chance you’ll remember what it is that you are looking at.

I mean, it makes sense.

They have a combination on the list: we remember 50% of what we hear and see, which is why many people are able to remember the words in movies and why I did so well in art classes. Why I still do well in art classes.

I was, am, good at English because I love to read and the more interesting it is, the more likely I am to remember.

What do you all think? Comment!

The Correction of a Simple False Assumption Moved the Human Race Forward

The Correction of a Simple False Assumption Moved the Human Race Forward

The more we allow an assumption to hold us back, the less likely we are to more forward.

Assumption is the mother of all screw ups.

Assumption

At one point, humanity believed that the world was flat. Because of this, people didn’t travel for fear of falling off the edge. It wasn’t until that assumption was corrected that people began to travel. Eventually, trade routes were created and new ideas like mathematics were spread. Once we were rid of that assumption, our behavior changed dramatically!

Assumption is the mother of all screw ups.

Easy to say, hard to live by; I mean look at society today. It has been built on assumptions.

Let me show you what I mean; indulge me real quick and read the following passage:

On a cold January day, a forty-three-year-old man was
sworn in as the chief executive of this country. By his side
stood his predecessor, a famous general who, fifteen years
earlier, had commanded his nation’s armed forces in a war
that resulted in the defeat of Germany. The young leader
was raised in the Roman Catholic faith. He spent the next
five hours watching parades in his honor and stayed up
celebrating until three o’clock in the morning.*

How many of you thought the above passage described John F. Kennedy?

It was actually describing Hitler.

But you now understand my point on assumptions if you hadn’t before. Granted, this wasn’t a life or death situation, but what if you had bet money on it? That assumption would have made an ass out of you had you been wrong. Otherwise, you had nothing to lose.

I start this article writing about about assumption because I would like to challenge some. Here’s one we hear quite often; you are only rich when your income is high.

Nope.

You are also rich when you are full of knowledge or have a strong support system in your life – friends and family being the prime examples. You can also be “rich” with love. But in terms of money, knowledge is the only one that will get you great wealth (unless you manage to marry someone who is rich, but what are the chances of that happening?).

The topic of knowledge is where the other assumption to be challenged comes in; go to school, get good grades, go to college and learn a trade, and then you’ll be able to find a job with good benefits. And then save as much as you can.

WRONG!

That hasn’t been applicable since 1971 when Nixon took us off the gold standard and turned our money into currency. And, like an electrical current, it must flow for the economy to function. Saving it is actually hurting you more than it is helping. The rules of money before Nixon, the old capitalism ideas, were demolished. They were altered again in 1974 when business stopped taking care of their retirees. Prior to 1974, business took care of their employees’ retirement; they were called defined businesses. As you already know, that no long exists.

Now, we have the shaky DC plans: 401(k)s, IRAs, Keoghs, etc. USA Today found in a survey that people were more afraid of running out of money during their retirement than they were terrorists.

I’d be afraid, too, with the baby boomers entering into retirement soon. If that hasn’t begun already.

But the root of the problem is we are not being taught about money in school and the little we learn from our parents is, “Study so you can get a good job.” The “rat race,” old capitalist mentality. Where you get a job and 50% of your paycheck goes to the government who probably knows less than you do on how to handle money.

The assumption is our parents will guide us, but they can’t guide us on something they know very little about. I had to look elsewhere. I started reading books like Rich Dad, Poor Dad and Increase Your Financial IQ by Robert T. Kiyosaki, Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner, and Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action by Simon Sinek. And because of my reading, I know now that the old ideas of specializing in one skill is one of the worst ideas in the world.

If you only learn one thing and one thing only, what happens when you cannot find a job in that field? As I’m sure most of you have noticed, getting a job in this day and age requires having experience. But how are you supposed to get any experience when you can’t even get a job?

That’s why we need to learn as many skills as possible. Become a “jack-of-all-trades” so to speak. Now, I’m not saying don’t go to college. Education is important, but I feel we need to be educated on as many subjects as possible to keep our options and open and further our success.

Which brings me to a question: if you were given the opportunity to learn a new skill from home, would you take it?

Because I can offer you the opportunity to be your own boss and make money from home by adding one more skill set to your pool: internet marketing.

Making the internet generate money for you.

Look at any store, restaurant, fast food place that has a website; Office Depot, McDonald’s, Macy’s, Burger King; they’re marketing using the internet.

YOU CAN DO THIS TOO!

Blogging is a form of internet marketing. If you have a Facebook, you have a partial idea of how it’s done. Making a video and posting it to YouTube is a form of internet marketing. And just using word-of-mouth is a kind of marketing in itself. Blogging, making videos, and the power of speech are all skills.

Would you be willing to give it a try?

Would you like to learn?

Or would your rather join the rest of the people in the “rat race,” receiving only 50% of their paycheck because the government takes the rest and having virtually no assurances to your future in retirement?

Now, before I get into the next part, I need to remind you that I am not only extremely honest but also extremely blunt. If I don’t believe in something, I don’t participate. But when I do believe and I do participate, I give it my all. During my final semester at college, I was secretary of two clubs. Not only because I believed in the two clubs but also because I wanted to help and with the support of my friends and the other officers, I would happily to it all again in a heartbeat. I felt rich in my final semester because of that experience. I was happy to help.

Keep all that in mind when I ask you these next questions:

Would you be willing to learn internet marketing if you were given the blogging platform?
Would you be willing to learn internet marketing if you were taught how to use said blogging platform?
Would you be willing to learn internet marketing if you could earn money as you learned?
And would you be willing to learn internet marketing if you had a mentor and access to a group of other marketers to help you every step of the way?

Well?

Would you?

What if I also told you that many companies are looking for people with this skill set? Would you still hesitate?

And with this skill set, you could promote yourself, your own current business and even others. You can make other blogs. I am currently hosting 3 blogs; Empowerment, Empower Network, and Dragon Age – Opinions and Truths. Empowerment is mainly for empowering others and helping people learn new skills, such as internet marketing and the other skills I went to college for (English, Art, Classical Studies, Math). The Empower Network blog is meant for empowering others as well and focuses on the skill set of Internet Marketing. Dragon Age – Opinions and Truths is for the followers of the Dragon Age series of games. There I also provide empowerment, but I also post tips and tricks and insights to assist people in getting through the game.

I also have a Facebook, Twitter, TumblrInstagram, Pinterest, and two Facebook pages promoting my content: Empowerment and Dragon Age- Opinions and Truths.

Am I saying you HAVE to do all that in internet marketing? No. Course not. But it does help you get yourself and your blog content out there a lot faster.

And it’s FUN!

Internet marketing is easy to learn and I’m not learning this alone. I have a mentor helping me through it. His name is Nate. And do you remember my Empower Network blog I mentioned earlier? That blogging platform was given to me. All I had to do was add the content. Empower Network did the rest. They also have an FB group where you can ask questions from other internet marketers.

People, I’m offering you the opportunity to join this internet marketing team, which I am also a part of. You will receive training on how to market and if you join now, you will be able to participate in the launch of the updated version of the Empower Network blog; you’ll be able to blog from your phone!

YES!

Blogging on the go!

Empower Network has opened many doors for me; I would like to hand you the key for your own door.

Empower Network will teach you everything you need to know.

And if you try to learn this any other way from any other source, like my friend Kameron George, you will find yourself thousands of dollars in debt. Kameron maxed out his credit cards and sold his car to get the $20,000 he needed for his first mentor in the business. He is now one of the leaders of #Project A.W.O.L: Another Way Of Life. He now teaches people how to use the internet to take charge of your life.

And if you join Empower Network, you will have access to his #Project A.W.O.L training.

Joining Empower Network and gaining access to their viral blogging system only costs $25.

$25.

Compare that to Kam’s $20,000 mentor.

You can get started on learning internet marketing and making money online for $25.

And, incase you are still skeptical, take a look at the blogs I made and the Empower Network blog. Then take a look at, say, Amazon.com. It’s the same thing, only the blog layouts are different.

You can learn to do this as well.

And as you learn, you will have a mentor, a support system, and a blogging platform. All you will have to do is add the content. You can start making money online.

Or would your rather join the rest of the people in the “rat race,” receiving only 50% of their paycheck because the government takes the rest and having virtually no assurances to your future in retirement?

Gain control over your life. For $25.

Below, I have put together a little reading list compiled from the books I read while in college along with some I read on my own. There are also some books that were recommended to me by Empower Network.

I did this because one cannot be efficient if they have not yet learned from the past. It shall be updated as often as I am able.

I took time one day to go through Amazon.com and find these books at the lowest prices I could find. If you wish to purchase any of these books, click their titles. It will take you straight there.
